George Aird was a legendary Manchester art dealer who was a friend of L S Lowry and handled the sale of many of L S Lowry’s original paintings in his lifetime.
Working from the now famous Grove Galleries in Salford, Aird’s clients included the rich and famous of the day. As well as selling paintings by leading northern artists, Aird skillfully also framed the works of many of the artists including Lowry and Geoffrey Key.
A talented artist in his own right, Aird produces his own tributes to Lowry in oils which have become popular with owners of original Lowry’s who do not wish to hang their priceless originals as well as enthusiastic collectors who admire his own original works.
